Minimum Distance Bandwidth Allocation for Data Traffic over Space Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper formalizes the bandwidth allocation process over space communication systems as a Multi – Objective Programming (MOP) problem and proposes an allocation scheme based on the GOAL programming called “Minimum Distance” (MD) algorithm. The method is aimed at following the performance obtained by each station when there is no conflict among the stations to access the channel. In short, the algorithm assigns the bandwidth so to approach a non-competitive situation as close as possible. It is tested over a faded channel by using only TCP/IP traffic. The performance evaluation is carried out analytically by varying the degradation level of the channel and the traffic load offered to the earth stations, taking High Amplitude Platforms (HAPs) as technological reference.

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation for Multiple Traffic Classes in IEEE 802.16e WiMax Networks: A Petrinet Approach
Problem statement: WiMAX supports multiple types of traffic such as data, voice and video. Each flow requires a certain minimum bandwidth to achieve its QoS. Bandwidth allocation to traffic classes should be in such a way that fairness criteria is met with. Hence, we propose a dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism to achieve fair and efficient allocation. Approach: We present a Generalized Sto...
متن کاملRadio Resource Allocation for Scalable Video Services Over Wireless Cellular Networks
Good quality video services always require higher bandwidth. Hence, to provide the video services e.g., multicast/broadcast services (MBSs) and unicast services along with the existing voice, internet, and other background traffic services over the wireless cellular networks, it is required to efficiently manage the wireless resources in order to reduce the overall forced call termination proba...
متن کاملBandwidth Efficiency in Internet AVPNs*
The efficient utilization and management of bandwidth in broadband networks is of paramount importance since bandwidth costs are likely to dominate network operational costs, especially in the wide area scenario. However, relatively little attention has been given to this issue in developing the current schemes for the transport of Internet data traffic over ATM. In this paper we describe a ban...
متن کاملLimited sharing with traffic prediction for dynamic bandwidth allocation and QoS provisioning over Ethernet passive optical networks
As an inexpensive, simple, and scalable solution for broadband access, Ethernet passive optical networks (EPONs) have the capability of delivering integrated broadband services to the end users. A critical issue of EPONs is the utility of a shared upstream channel among the local users, and thus an efficient bandwidth allocation mechanism is required to facilitate statistical multiplexing among...
متن کاملLOW DENSITY GRAPH CODES AND NOVEL OPTIMIZATION STRATEGIES FOR INFORMATION TRANSFER OVER IMPAIRED MEDIUM by
Effective methods for information transfer over an imperfect medium are of great interest. This thesis addresses the following four topics involving low density graph codes and novel optimization strategies. Firstly, we study the performance of a promising coding technique: low density generator matrix (LDGM) codes. LDGM codes provide satisfying performance while maintaining low encoding and de...
